VOLUNTEERING
Why volunteer with TSW?
TSW is creating a unique opportunity of volunteering in our community development projects in one of the most rural parts of Nepal. Volunteering abroad means living like a local, experiencing authentic local culture from within, while making a life changing difference to struggling communities, in a rural Nepal and embark on an adventure of wonder and self-discovery reaching at deepest level of your being.
What will I be doing?
Generally volunteering abroad give you a feeling of going to teach English or assistant in a orphanage but volunteering with us is different from volunteering with any other organization as we are a well recognized NGO by government of Nepal and we enroll our volunteers in our own ongoing sustainable community development projects with sharing rich experience, making a real difference and giving back to the community and also give you a lifetime experience which will be with you for the rest of your life.
We have numbers of ongoing projects some of them are:
- Gender Equality in education (UN Millennium development goal # 3)
- Women Empowerment
- First girls shelter construction for higher education.
- DLGSP (Decentralized Local Governance Support Project by UNDP with Nepal government)
- Teaching & giving first aid training at TSW schools
- participating field visit program etc..
Welcoming Volunteers by local communities with great excitment
You will be working in any of the above project side by side with local community making difference in life of many needy and underserved communities and with the care of our highly qualified staffs with years of experience in supporting volunteers and facilitating cross-cultural exchange. so we want volunteers who are prepared to muck in and work hard, and have a laugh in the process.
Is this work worthwhile?
Yes! Your labour and funds make these vital projects happen. You are not replacing any local staff, you're creating job opportunities! You are directly assisting in the project and physically seeing how the money is being spent to benefit communities in need. We work with the families and the community to give them the opportunity to work towards a more comfortable life. We do everything possible to ensure that when we step back the community has the means to provide for themselves by utilizing what they have. We also monitor their progress and provide further assistance if the situation is justified.
Volunteering will make a Big difference in your life you will Experience Another Culture Like Never Before, you will be working side-by-side with local people and sharing in the goals of a community that warmly welcomes you, give you a experience of rich hospitality and feeling of being in loving family.
Where will I stay?
You will be staying in the lap of world’s highest mountain Mt. Everest. All our projects focus in the extremely rural and underserved region of Everest, during volunteering you will be staying with a local family in this region in their houses (home stay). This will provide you an opportunity to live like a local and feel the warm hospitality. Also give you a lifetime experience of being in a Nepali family. You will be having breakfast and dinner with you host family and lunch at project site. Every host family are given special training to host our international volunteer so they will ensure you the most comfortable stay with the available resources in a home away from your home.
Who can participate?
We openly welcome those enthusiastic people who want to experience the world not only within the book or movie but through their own eyes and do something for other, those adventurers traveler who not only like to travel but al
so want the lifetime experience of being local of the same community you see and visit. Given the rugged terrain and high altitude, participants must be physically fit, able to handle altitudes up to 4000 meter, and afford to cover their own expenses.
Why do volunteers have to pay?
Organizing effective, cost-efficient, and socially responsible international volunteer service presents a challenge in any part of the world. Volunteer funds are used in all of the structures, logistics, and support necessary to ensure project safety and success. your fund will pay for all our support staffs during your stay, we use funds to hire local coordinators and interpreters, transportation, hire porters, arrange your accommodation in Kathmandu & project site, domestic flights and remaining amount goes for our various projects.
