Meet Patrick Moran, Director of Photography with over a decade of experience in both still and motion imagery. With a background in agency, corporate, and humanitarian work, Patrick brings a deep understanding of visual storytelling with purpose.

About the Photography Tour
This unique a week program offers a rare chance to document impactful stories, while learning directly about the people, culture, and landscapes of rural Nepal. Participants will have the opportunity to:
Visit and photograph The Small World’s grassroots projects
Engage with local families, schoolchildren, and community leaders
Trek through remote Himalayan villages in the lower Solukhumbu region
Experience daily life, customs, ceremonies, and traditions firsthand
Contribute to a visual archive that supports awareness and advocacy

Day to day outline program of everyday Mountains, Monasteries & Movement
Day 01: Kathmandu to Dhap (April 9th 2019)
From Kathmandu Valley; Dhap (2900 m) is situated at the distance of 230 km. If journey will start at early 6 am, one can reach Nepal Thok for lunch. It takes around 7-8 hours of bus or jeep ride to reach Dhap. 3-4 hotels are available for food and lodging.
Day 02: Dhap to Japrey (April 10th)
After a drive of 6-7 hours, one can reach Jiprey which is 2930 m high from the sea level. Throughout the journey, Chauri gai can be seen. Similarly, long stone mane can be seen in different places. During spring season (Mid-March to Mid- May), one will be able to see forest painted by Rhododendron magnificently.
Day 03: Jiprey to Pikey Base Camp (April 11th)
Pikey Base Camp located at an altitude of 3600 m above sea level can be reached after the journey of 6- 7 hours hike from Jiprey. Small tea houses are available in the route to base camp whereas there are 2 hotels at base camp for food and lodging. During spring season (Mid-March to Mid- May), one will be able to see spectacular displays of rhododendrons.
Day 04: Pikey Base Camp – Pikey Peak – Junbesi (April 12th)
We get up early in the morning with warm clothes and climb up Pikey Peak (4070m.). It is about one hour walking to get to Pikey Peak. You will see the best sunrise and magnificent view of the Himalayas like Dhaulagiri, Everest, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, AmaDamlam, Lhotse, Nupatse, Numbur, Gaurisankhar, Langtang to the far west and others mountains. After this unforgettable view, We will see all the mountains from here as well. After that, we hike down to Jarsabhanjyang for breakfast.Then start trek towards Junbesi. We can be reached Taktor(Lunch Place) after 2/3 hrs hiking from Jarsabhyanjyang.After taking lunch we can be reached 2/3 hrs Junbesi from Taktor.Junbesi is considered to be Sherpa's most beautiful villages, which lies at the height of 2990m. above sea level. There is 1 ancient Buddhist Monastery. It was the Point old famous route of Everest Trekking Route. there are 8-/10 well facilitated hotels operated by local Sherpas. Pikey base Camp to Junbesi takes 7/8 hours hiking and then overnight at lodge.
Day 05: Junbesi –Thupten Chholing- Junbesi (April 13th)
Thupten Chholing is a celibate Buddhist monastery located in the high and remote mountains of Nepal. Founded by His Holiness Thrulsik Rinpoche in the 1960's after fleeing Tibet, it is an independent and autonomous institution. Consequently, Thupten Choling has been able to remain authentically traditional, and hidden from the outside world. Due to its remoteness and increasing population, the 700 resident monks and nuns live with dwindling resources, no public health facilities, and have little chance of sustaining themselves in the long run unless their limited resources are managed wisely.After breakfast, we will take a hike of the Thupten Chholing Monastery 2800m. Explore the monastery and meditate with nuns. Rest of the day is to on your own to explore. Today, we will hike about 4/5 hours, we will have lunch at Thupten Chholing Monastery. Overnight in Junbesi at Lodge.
Day 06: Junbesi – Taksindu Dada (April 14th)
We will be walking trekking on classical Everest Trekking trail . We trek through many little village and today is also another good opportunity of seeing Mount Everest. Over night we will be staying on top of valley at beautiful view place of Secret Mountain called Numbur Himal Which is 22,051 feet standing just in front of us.
Day 07: Taksindu – Hiking & Taksindu Monastery (April 15th)
In the morning we will have great sun rise view and Numbur Himal and after breakfast there is also optional Hike to Everest and many mountains over 8000 m and Trek to Taksindu Monastery which is only about hour walk down. There will be visiting Monastery experiencing Puja ceremony for cultural immersion foster exceptional experience and deeper understanding of the world.
?? 08th Taksindu to Phaplu/ Salleri . (April 16th)
Trek to Phaplu through jungle walk and today we will see some of The Small World project going , meeting with girls at Solukhumbu Girls dorm for higher education and visit children home project . We all meeting, share meal together .
Day 08: Phaplu – Kathmandu
After the morning breakfast at Phaplu, Kathmandu can be reached through 8 hours car/ jeep ride or 40 minutes of flight.

Day 01: Kathmandu to Dhap ( April 9th 2019)

Day 02: Playing volleyball and dancing and teaching experience with local children ( April 10th 2019)
Today, you will be giving brief orientation of community about project or service and about locals people, culture and after Lunch you will be welcoming in school with different cultural songs , dances and speech by local students in the school. After this welcoming ceremony, you will be playing with children volleyball.
Day 03: Playing football and teaching local children ( April 11th 2019)
Today after breakfast ,you will be exploring local village and monastery and meeting with some of local people and after lunch walking to local school for football and some English / Maths or Science teaching to local children .
Day 04: Plying basketball with local children ( April 12th 2019)
Today after breakfast , you will be walking to project site and playing basketball with local children and also teaching basketball to girls at The Small World program at Girls higher education project. Here, in local village mostly familiar with volleyball and some with football very not basketball so it would be really good to teach them and play together as a new game for local children and building friendship and sharing stories
Day 05: Service Work ( April 13th 2019)
Today, after breakfast we will walk to project site, the project is about providing support to more then 100 children from remote Himalayan communities of Nepal; these children either became orphans and/or were highly vulnerable due to the Nepal earthquake, natural disasters such as landslides, or accidents that were suffered by many family members while portering Western climbers and trekkers. Today you will be working with local community members and The Small World staffs making sure you are safe .
Day 06: Trek to Junbeshi( April 14th 2019)
Today you will be walking through many little villages, farms and mani walls stone along the way and over night you will be staying in Junbeshi at Guest House. Junbesi is a beautiful Sherpa village situated at an altitude of 2700m . The landscape and its nature are astonishingly beautiful. its has unique culture and tradition. We will meet classical Everest trekking tail in Junbeshi
Day 07: Trek to Taksindu ( April 15th 2019)
We will be walking trekking on classical Everest Trekking trail . We trek through many little village and today is also another good opportunity of seeing Mount Everest. Over night we will be staying on top of valley at beautiful view place of Secret Mountain called Numbur Himal Which is 22,051 feet standing just in front of us.
Day 07: Trek to Taksindu ( April 15th 2019)
You will be trekking to Salleri through beautiful jungle and with view of many mountains. In Spring season in this jungle there will be rhododendron flowers and over night you will be arriving at project site where we will be meeting with our adult / parents group and having farewell ceremony having big group dinner and celebration with dance and songs together with local children and girls at project site.
Day 08: Drive to Kathmandu ( April 16th 2019)
You will be driving back to Kathmandu by private Jeep and over night in a Hotel in Kathmandu before flight the next day.
