Supporting Girls Education in Nepal
BREAKING DOWN THE BARRIERS TO EDUCATION FOR Girls
Girls Higher Education
An educated woman’s household is more likely to prosper as a result of a higher overall income. Just one extra year of secondary education can increase a woman’s income as much as 25% a year. By participating in the labour market, an educated woman helps boost economic productivity, leading to greater wealth for her community.
Proud to be a Girl
Being born a girl in a developing country like Nepal is challenging as girls face discrimination and are held back in every step of life but at The Small World we strongly believe that if we could only provide girls an educational opportunity she will feel proud to be born a girl.
This program was established with the intent to teach women marketable skills, to help them become economically independent, to keep traditional Nepali weaving alive, and to serve as an inspiration for other women to join them with hope and promise for their future.
